Untitled (Marie Curie)

White pencil and pen on board; 80 x 120 cm
Marie Curie was reported as saying
sometimes I had to spend a whole day mixing a boiling mass with a heavy iron rod nearly as large as myself. I would be broken with fatigue at the days end. Other days, on the contrary, the work would be a most minute and delicate fractional crystallisation, in the effort to concentrate the radium.
Although I found this quote through internet searches I have been unable to locate its source again and it exists in the ether like a moment lost in time.
